Tales of a Cup and Kopi

Something nice to share…..

'The happiest people in the world are not those who have no problems, but those who learn to live with things that are less than perfect.'

A group of graduates, highly established in their careers, got together to visit their old university professor. Conversation soon turned into complaints about stress in work and life.

Offering his guests coffee, the professor went to the kitchen and returned with a large pot of coffee and an assortment of cups - porcelain, plastic, glass, crystal, some plain looking, some expensive, some exquisite telling them to help themselves to the coffee.

When all the students had a cup of coffee, the professor said: 'If you noticed, all the nice looking expensive cups were taken up, leaving behind the simple and cheap ones. While it is normal for you to want only the best for yourselves, that is the source of your problems and stress. Be assured that the cup itself adds no quality to the coffee.

In most cases, it is just more expensive and in some cases even hides what we drink. What all of you really wanted was coffee, not the cup, but you consciously went for the best cups... Then you began eyeing each other's cups.'

Now consider this, said the professor, 'Life is the coffee; the jobs, money and position in society are the cups. They are just tools to hold and contain Life, and the type of cup we have does not define, nor change the quality of Life we live. Sometimes, by concentrating on the cup, we fail to enjoy the coffee God has provided us. Enjoy your coffee!'

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything. Four things to take note of in life...

1. Live simply.
2. Love generously.
3. Care deeply.
4. Speak kindly.

Enjoy your coffee!!!

Passion equal to Power

The power to attract a customer is one of the most sought after ideas of our times. Whether you work selling products or services for Fortune 500 companies or you're an entrepreneur you know that attracting Customers is important to your survival. Customer attraction is magical for some and down right hard systematic work for others. But for Customer Passion Evangelist customer attraction is fun, exciting and exhilarating. Serving one customer effectively can lead to hundreds or thousands more just like them.

The number one Focus for every company on earth has been Customer Power. Look at all the books that have been written on the subject of Customers lately and you'll see that Customer Power has become a force to be reckoned with. In previous articles, I've referenced the fact that history has shown us that for generation's people have used all types of power to influence the future direction of civilization. But none has captivated and held an audience of viewers mesmerized like the subject of Customer Power. Why? Because customers have the ability to control the economy and what's more powerful now is that they know it.

Living Customer Power out loud...

Since the launch of the Internet, customers have been taking their position to impressively impact every industry known to man. They know their rights and you know they know. You can see their impact everywhere across the net in blogs and on websites. In the past when a customer complained, their story was only heard by a few within the store. Often times their voice was suppressed and confined to a little brown wooden box called the "Suggestion Box". But now that the customer suggestion box cannot be hidden and has gone public, customers are speaking once but louder than ever as their voice is being captured online for all to see. So how do you deal with customers who know their rights and who understand that they have Customer Power? Listen very carefully...its real simple treat customers with the respect they deserve and always serve them with passion.

Customer Passion the only harness for Customer Power...

Benjamin Franklin through observation asked a question to the clouds that harnessed the power of electricity. Leonardo Da Vinci asked thousands of questions that allowed him to formulate inventions for machines that could not be mass-produced until hundreds of years later. The key to attracting customers is to SERVE them with PASSION and some of my clients are finally starting to get it! SERVED with PASSION.

Failing to SERVE is a problem...Dollar signs in your eyes

The biggest problems we have with customers are not because of them but they are problems within ourselves. Our failure to meet their needs in the ways they need is the biggest problem of them all and this very well might be an inability to see our own faults. If you invent your opportunity, you'll create your future.

why motivation don't work

A topic that I'm often asked about is how to motivate people. Executives are always looking for ways to improve the attitude and performance of their team.

The answer is that you can't motivate people. It's not that your people are a peculiar breed or that they're an apathetic bunch. The fact is that you can't motivate anyone! Motivation only comes from within. People are only self-motivated. Think of it this way: If you get someone to do something they don't want to do, its coercion. People will only do what they choose to do. Don't take my word for it. Use your own experience with people as your best example. People will generally perform only to a level that matters to them. No amount of threatening, pleading or rewarding will motivate them into action.

Is there no hope for moving people beyond their current state? Not at all. There is a way to make a difference. And it's not a theory. I've seen it work on a regular basis. The key to getting people to rise above their present level of performance is to 1) develop a company culture, 2) recruit to a purpose, and then 3) appeal to that purpose to bring out the best in your people' performance and drive.

Developing a Culture
Most companies have policies and procedures, employee manuals and guidelines, effective marketing messages, and beautiful statements of mission/vision/etc. mounted on the wall. All of those are well and good, but they don't address the matter which has the greatest impact on their business and their teams. They don't address the Purpose of the organization and as such, have no yardstick against which to measure decisions, policies and strategies.

In the absence of a clear Purpose - the "WHY" of the organization - people are simply hired to fill vacancies, policies are developed which are unclear and don't further the attainment of a purpose, systems are lacking, actions are taken which would otherwise be in direct conflict with the Purpose of the organization, and decisions are made inconsistently, without regard to the culture of the organization.

In contrast, a business which has a clear Purpose ("Why"), a Mission ("What"), and a set of Values ("How"), hires smarter, has a consistent set of policies that support its Purpose, has a yardstick to measure its decisions against, has an easier time attracting and retaining the right people, and has the means to develop and deliver a clear marketing message.

Let's define and discuss the implications of having Purpose, Mission and Values in your organization.

Purpose is the "WHY" of the equation. It defines why we do what we do. Each decision and policy should take the business closer to achieving its "WHY".

Mission is the "WHAT" of the equation. It defines what the business will be doing to achieve its Purpose. Staying true to the broad "WHAT" will allow the business to focus on its core activities and strengths.

Values are the "HOW" of the equation. Values define how the Mission will be carried out in an effort to achieve the Purpose.

Purpose:
Purpose defines why we do what we do. It defines why we go to work each day. Without purpose, people just go through the motions and as most of us know, there's a great difference between activity and achievement. Having a clear purpose creates a yardstick, so to speak, to measure our decisions against. It helps us become passionate, helps us to select among the many options presented to us, helps us make better hiring decisions, and keeps us on track. It's possible to succeed without a clear purpose, but having one speeds and magnifies the results.

When a business has a clearly defined purpose it begins to act as a magnet, attracting the kind of people who will further the purpose; people who are like-minded. Not only will having a purpose attract the right people, but it will also act to retain them. This is the power behind the success of many not-for-profit organizations. Although they often are unable to pay their people great sums of money, they continue to attract and retain people who are dedicated and who work hard to achieve the purpose of the organization. While your organization's purpose may not be as altruistic as a not-for-profit's purpose, it definitely plays an important, almost critical, role.

The Power of Self Confidence

A business executive was deep in debt and could see no way out.Creditors were closing in on him. Suppliers were demanding payment. He sat on the park bench, head in hands, wondering if anything could save his company from bankruptcy.

Suddenly an old man appeared before him. "I can see that something istroubling you," he said. After listening to the executive's woes, theold man said, "I believe I can help you."He asked the man his name, wrote out a check, and pushed it into his hand saying, "Take this money. Meet me here exactly one year from today, and you can pay me back at that time."Then he turned and disappeared as quickly as he had come.

The business executive saw in his hand a check for $500,000, signed byJohn D. Rockefeller, then one of the richest men in the world!"I can erase my money worries in an instant!" he realized. But instead, the executive decided to put the uncashed check in his safe.Just knowing it was there might give him the strength to work out away to save his business, he thought. With renewed optimism, he negotiated better deals and extended terms of payment. He closed several big sales. Within a few months, he was out of debt and making money once again.

Exactly one year later, he returned to the park with the uncashed check. At the agreed-upon time, the old man appeared. But just as the executive was about to hand back the check and share his success story, a nurse came running up and grabbed the old man."I'm so glad I caught him!" she cried. "I hope he hasn't beenbothering you. He's always escaping from the rest home and telling people he's John D. Rockefeller."And she led the old man away by the arm. The astonished executive just stood there, stunned. All year long he'd been wheeling and dealing, buying and selling, convinced he had half a million dollars behind him.

Suddenly, he realized that it wasn't the money, real or imagined, thathad turned his life around. It was his newfound self-confidence thatgave him the power to achieve anything he went after.

You Gotta Read this Inspiring Story

never ever break your promise
My wife called, 'How long will you be with that newspaper? Will you come here and make your darling daughter eat her food?I tossed the paper away and rushed to the scene.

My only daughter, Sindu, looked frightened; tears were welling up in her eyes. In front of her was a bowl filled to its brim with curd rice. Sindu is a nice child, quite intelligent for her age.I cleared my throat and picked up the bowl. 'Sindu, darling, why don't you take a few mouthful of this curd rice? Just for Dad's sake, dear'.Sindu softened a bit and wiped her tears with the back of her hands.

Ok, Dad. I will eat - not just a few mouthfuls, but the whole lot of this. But, you should...' Sindu hesitated. 'Dad, if I eat this entire curd Rice, will you give me whatever I ask for?''Promise'. I covered the pink soft hand extended by my daughter with mine, and clinched the deal.

Now I became a bit anxious. 'Sindu, dear, you shouldn't insist on getting a computer or any such expensive items. Dad does not have that kind of money right now. Ok?''No, Dad. I do not want anything expensive'. Slowly and painfully, she finished eating the whole quantity. I was silently angry with my wife and my mother for forcing my child to eat something that she detested. After the ordeal was through, Sindu came to me with her eyes wide with expectation. All our attention was on her.

Dad, I want to have my head shaved off, this Sunday!' was her demand.'Atrocious!' shouted my wife, 'A girl child having her head shaved off? Impossible!''Never in our family!' My mother rasped. 'She has been watching too much of television. Our culture is getting totally spoiled with these TV programs!''Sindu, darling, why don't you ask for something else? We will be sad seeing you with a clean-shaven head.''Please, Sindu, why don't you try to understand our feelings?' I tried to plead with her.

Dad, you saw how difficult it was for me to eat that Curd Rice'. Sindu was in tears. 'And you promised to grant me whatever I ask for. Now, you are going back on your words. Was it not you who told me the story of King Harishchandra, and its moral that we should honor our promises no matter what?'It was time for me to call the shots. 'Our promise must be kept.''Are you out of your mind?' chorused my mother and wife.'No. If we go back on ourpromises, she will never learn to honour her own. Sindu, your wish will be fulfilled.'With her head clean-shaven, Sindu had a round-face, and her eyes looked big and beautiful.

On Monday morning, I dropped her at her school. It was a sight to watch my hairless Sindu walking towards her classroom. She turned around and waved. I waved back with a smile. Just then, a boy alighted from a car, and shouted, 'Sinduja, please wait for me!' What struck me was the hairless head of that boy.

May be, that is the in-stuff', I thought.'Sir, your daughter Sinduja is great indeed!' Without introducing herself, a lady got out of the car, and continued, 'that boy who is walking along with your daughter is my son Harish. He is suffering from... leukemia'. She paused to muffle her sobs.

Harish could not attend the school for the whole of the last month. He lost all his hair due to the side effects of the chemotherapy. He refused to come back to school fearing the unintentional but cruel teasing of the schoolmates. Sinduja visited him last week, and promised him that she will take care of the teasing issue. But, I never imagined she would sacrifice her lovely hair for the sake of my son! Sir, you and your wife are blessed to have such a noble soul as your daughter.'I stood transfixed and then, I wept. 'My little Angel, you are teaching me how selfless real love is!

The happiest people on this planet are not those who live on their own terms but are those who change their terms for the ones whom theylove…

Gates' Rules

adopted from: www.maverickysm.blogspot.com

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 10 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.
Rule 1 :
Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2 :
The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3:
You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4:
If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5:
Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6:
If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7:
Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8:
Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9:
Life is not divided into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10:
Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Bonus Rule 11:
Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

My Rule No.1:
Get on with life; there's just too much unaccomplished and to be accomplish.

Working for the Right Person

Getting the work you want, creating your future, developing your skills can be hard, take time, and cost money. But this isn't a generational issue; it's a life-potential issue. We can hold these self-limiting beliefs whether we're Gen-Y, Gen-X, Boomers or Traditionalists.

When we think we work for other people instead of working for ourselves, we're less likely to make the investments in self-development, put in the time and determination, or make the trade-offs necessary to achieve the goals we desire.

When we think we work for "the boss" we're less likely to push ourselves, take on the challenging project, volunteer for extra assignments, or offer the best of who we are to our work, whatever that work may be.

When we work for other people, we're less likely to use our unique gifts to make a difference in our work group, community, or world. And we're less likely to have the internal drive and passion to sustain us through those workplace potholes.

Working for yourself is not about being an entrepreneur, owning your own business, or being self-employed. It's a vision, not a vocation.

You can give away the power over your future to bosses or other influencers in your life, or you can keep that power to fuel your dreams. As Nashua Cavalier put it, "Man's biggest mistake is to believe that he's working for someone else." When you believe you are, that's when work becomes work.

People who are winning at working work for the right person - the one looking back in mirror. That differentiation changes everything. It's easier to know what jobs to seek, skills to enhance, and opportunities to seize. It's easier to know when you should change paths, companies, or bosses. And it's easier to weather workplace stresses when you're the one holding the compass for your life.

People who are winning at working accept the accountability for inventing their future, realizing it's not the boss or the work or the company politics that stand in the way of their success. These can be obstacles to maneuver certainly, but the real obstacles are self-inflicted: fear, limiting beliefs, victim thinking or misplaced perspectives. These are what hold your life-potential in check.

Want to be winning at working? Start working for the right person

Smile...

Like the power of electricity, your smile is full of electric energy. Sending warm currents of joy everywhere it's released. The Power Smile will show you how to influence the world and take back your future.

It's in your smile...
The depth of what kind of person you are is in your smile. If we could ask Leonardo Da Vinci about the magic of the Mona Lisa he'd probably never tell, but the secret is... it's in her smile. There trapped underneath the skin and locked in the muscle is a secret that's been hidden for generations inside that little smile of yours. So if you have a minute, I'd like to introduce you to my little friend that is more influential than a dozen Mona Lisa's in all the museums in the world.

How the smile influences...
These days, everybody's talking about influence from Dr. Robert Cialdini, who wrote the book "Influence" to my friend Dave Lakhani author of "Persuasion". But the way you influence the world, your life, and your entire future are all rolled up and hidden inside that smile of yours. All of your joy, all of your happiness, and every bit of your enthusiasm can be unleashed at your own will. You have so much control over where you're going and how fast you'll get there, you might be surprised.

Get your smiling benefits...
So what are the benefits of the Power smile? There are many, but one major influential benefit is that you can change and alter your emotional state. That's right you can influence how happy you are. Everywhere I speak to audiences they're impressed to know they control the ---Happy Meter--- inside of themselves. Soon you'll be practicing this virtually unknown little secret all the time. When people ask me why I smile so much, I tell them "because smiling triggers and releases endorphins in the brain". And that release sends a wave of happiness through out your entire body.

Power smiling builds your self-esteem
There are many times you'll be standing in front of a mirror today so let those be the moments you Power Smile. In the bathroom at home, school or work, look at yourself... Power smile and accept that you're changing your future smile by smile. Each smile at yourself builds inner confidence, and every smile at anyone else builds stronger relationships. Now when others smile back at you you're on the road to greatness. Soon enough, you'll find yourself smiling all the time and feeling so much better. Smiling carries with it the Law of Sowing and Reaping and the Law of Attraction. As you sow smiling you reap the harvest of smiles from others, and this in turn builds up your self-esteem. You begin to attract to yourself those who smile and I've found those who smile often are so much easier to get along with because they're happier.

Mexico to host 2010 WC?

Mexico is ready and willing to host the 2010 World Cup should South Africa be unable to host the event, according to the general secretary of the nation's governing body Decio De Maria.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter recently claimed three countries were in line to step in should South Africa not be ready for the tournament in two years' time.
Fears over South Africa's preparations have arisen since it emerged the new stadium in Port Elizabeth had fallen behind schedule and would not be ready in time to stage Confederations Cup games next summer.
The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) won the rights to host the 2011 Under-17 World Cup and De Maria said with work well underway to improve the nation's stadia they would be equipped to host FIFA's showpiece event if required.
'We have said it more than once. We enjoy being hosts, we have the stadiums and, if it happens, we will be ready to the call,' De Maria told goal.com.
'We have already raised our hand. They gave us the organisation of the Under-17 World Cup and now we have to wait FIFA's final decision.
'We have always mentioned that we are a country with infrastructure, with resources and with great fans.
'For that we made a huge work to host the Under-17 tournament in 2011. Mexico's credentials are there.'
Mexico has hosted two World Cup tournaments previously - in 1970 and 1986.

No Confidence on Proton

Proton's highly publicised campaign to hike sales appears to have hit a road block, with drivers saying they will snub the national carmaker in favour of foreign models.

Proton last month launched a 'zero-defect' campaign aimed at erasing a persistent reputation for poor quality that has left it struggling to compete against Japanese and European carmakers.
Proton managing director Syed Zainal Abidin also announced plans to fit all models with natural gas tanks from October to help motorists beat the rising cost of fuel - following a 41 percent petrol price hike here last month. But a snapshot of consumers in Kuala Lumpur by AFP on the weekend shows many critical of the carmaker after a string of bad experiences.
Source: Malaysiakini

Hello Proton Malaysia, after 23 years of experience, seem not to have grown up as expected and compete competitively against others car manufacturers, not to mention European countries manufacturers but against Korean and Japan cars.
Yup, car prices is important factors when people make their decisions, but cheap doesn't necessarily comes with quality, it seem Proton still lack in this criteria after been so long in this business.
People rather pay more for a quality car especially middle income people where the cost of "kereta rosak" on roadside is very expensive which you might miss out with your customer appointment. Besides the design is still "boleh tahan" lah and even in my opinion Perodua is doing much much better.

Thanks PROTON for your 23 years of good solid job and now people have no confidence.

Are you Travel or On a Journey?

"When people are just traveling, they start out with the notion they're gonna end up someplace by a certain time. They get together what they think they'll need and head out. They stop for fuel if they're driving. Maybe they stop for food or maybe they pack their own so's to limit the stops. If a detour comes up on the highway or there's a traffic jam, they get upset. They don't like anything to slow 'em up. They're on a schedule.

"A person on a journey prepares the basics as well, but doesn't have a schedule...not as such. That person is willing, if not enthusiastic, about enjoying every second. Might create detours just to see what's there. Maybe pulls over to watch a sunrise or sunset. Might get out in a rain shower to feel the cool drops on their skin...taste the rain. That kind of person will stop along the way just to talk to people, have a new experience. You can tell a lot about how a person moves through life by how they travel."

Are you just traveling through life or are you on a journey? The difference is there are people who just "do" life...the job, the bills, the routines...basically just traveling from one point or moment to the next without full appreciation of the simple fact that we have moments. And there are those who live. They see every moment as an opportunity to expand their understanding, opportunities, and who they are.

One of the quickest ways to live more fully is to agree to be fully present with what you're doing. That means having your heart, mind, emotions, and your ability to manage them for the most productive outcome, awake and in tune.

We have a tendency to think about other things while we do other things. Have you ever wished you'd been paying attention when something happened and you missed it? We do this all the time. We multi-task our brains, our emotions, and our lives instead of linking moments from one to the next like precious pearls on a strong thread.

Listening to others and our true selves with more than our ears opens our life experience into an adventure, a journey. Being anywhere other than where we are and who we're with is a form of just passing through, like towns we pass on a highway with barely a glimpse or curiosity.

Are you traveling or are you on a journey?

The Pursuit of Happiness 2

During this current age where depression, anxiety, angerness, lack of tolerance and much more related symptoms are very common among peoples, I always think of happiness. I think that happiness is a feeling rather than a thing that we need to borrow or to snatch it from some other person. Feeling depends on the sensitivity of a person so it varies from an individual to another. If there are shops which sell happiness then it must be one of the most expensive product of this century.

In spite of frustration and negative approach we need to find out the sources of happiness and to rise the sense of its feeling in us. Good relationships, helping poors and needy peoples, believe in religion, visiting attractive places, money, purposeful life, positive thoughts are the sources of happiness. I analyzed that all above factors contribute in giving happiness to many peoples belonging to different casts, religions and races.

Money as a source of happiness is controversial among many peoples as a lot of peoples which are rich but not happy. In developed countries money become a part of their life rather than a need. I have seen many poor peoples which got happiness by getting money because money is their need. Helping poor and needy people or poor relatives will give us internal satisfaction of being a good human and this intern gives us happiness.

The strong and close relationship with family peoples and friends also provide us happiness. Our mental development in childhood play a major role in our psychic development. It is how a child learn from his family members, most probably from his parents to sense the happiness. I observed that some people don't get happy by little success because of their childhood development during which they didn't learn to feel happiness on little success.

To believe in GOD also provide us mental happiness. I observed that people attached with their religion seems to be more happy than others as religion makes our life purposeful. The way you think also effects your happiness level. Positive thinking always produces hope and satisfaction which enhance happiness in us.

If you are still not so much happy than you must be lacking many of above habits. The happiness is waiting to enter in your life but if you try to give you life, a positive change which are described above.

Build Rapport and Increase Closing Ratio

Product knowledge is important in selling insurance. Understanding how to uncover your prospect's needs and then determining which product will best address those needs is critical. But as we've heard before, people buy from people they like. People buy Benefits, not Features ... and they're more likely to believe in the benefits you offer when they like you, trust you, and can relate to you. A key to effective communications is understanding and applying your knowledge of the four social styles - Analytical, Commander, Expressive, & Stabilizer (A.C.E.S.). In this article we'll touch on each of the four styles, how they think and act, how to read your prospects to spot their style(s), and what to do once you know who you're talking to.

The Four Faces of A.C.E.S.
Let's spend some time talking about the traits of each style. We'll briefly go into the strengths and weakness of each one. (No one style is better than another.)

Analyticals are just that - very analytical. They seek perfection. They're organized, detail-minded, and somewhat idealistic. Analyticals tend to be perfectionists. They are good planners and schedulers, and can be creative and somewhat musical. Analyticals are sensitive, intellectual and tend to be conservative. Their weaknesses show up in a number of ways. Analyticals can become easily depressed. They often are moody and sarcastic. Because of their idealistic, perfectionist tendencies, they often are hard to please and can be fussy. Analyticals can be suspicious, skeptical, unpopular and unsociable.

Commanders are natural leaders. They seek control. They are high achievers, can be bold and assertive, and are often very competitive. They're driven and goal-oriented, resourceful, strong-willed, and tenacious. Commanders are independent, perceptive, outspoken, and productive. Their flip side, or weaknesses, can show up as being overly controlling and bossy. They can be egocentric, headstrong, and short-tempered. Sometimes Commanders are insensitive, intolerant, and/or tactless. Many of them are workaholics.

Expressives are people. They seek fun. They're animated, cheerful, and enthusiastic. Expressives mix easily, are spontaneous, and often are playful. You'll frequently see Expressives as popular and sociable. As fun as they are to be around, Expressives have their share of weaknesses, too. They can be loud and overly talkative, and when they explain things may often exaggerate and/or generalize. They can be messy, undisciplined and unfocused. Sometimes they're alarmists and impulsive in their decisions and actions.

Stabilizers are relationship builders. They seek peace. You'll often see then as accommodating, considerate and easy-going. Stabilizers are great listeners, patient, and soft-spoken. They have strengths as mediators, counselors and can be diplomatic. Even though they're excellent at keeping the boat from rocking, they, too, have weaknesses. Stabilizers avoid conflict, sometimes at any cost. They can be too compromising, indifferent, and timid. Sometimes Stabilizers will be uninvolved, noncommittal, and emotionless. They aren't goal-oriented, so they are often weak at goal setting, can be aimless, and un-ambitious.

Playing Your Hand
How can you use the knowledge to improve your ability to build rapport and close more sales? Remember not to follow the Golden Rule! (Do unto others, as you would have them do unto you.) Instead of communicating in the style you're most comfortable in, work on communicating in the style they're most comfortable in. With Analyticals, use facts and figures. Details matter. They're the ones that, when they say, "Let me think about it," they really mean it! Don't go too fast, be too pushy, be inaccurate, or be too light-hearted. With Commanders, get to the bottom line. Don't burden them with the details (yet), just have them ready if asked for. Don't let your presentation ramble - stay on track and make your point. They don't want their time wasted. With Expressive, details make them glassy eyed. Keep your presentation light, colorful, and somewhat entertaining. They'll buy because they had a good time with you, rather than on the logic. With Stabilizers, relationships rule. If you get right into your business, they won't connect with you. They want to connect with you. They want to have you understand them and they want to understand you. Don't rush them, and "work together", to solve a problem.

Summing Things Up
If you truly want to have a thriving book of business, you need to understand people and have them connect with you. Study the traits of the four social styles (Analytical, Commander, Expressive, Stabilizer). Practice picking up clues from prospect's clothing, body language, surroundings, and speech. Then, make a conscious effort to modify what you say and how you say it to match your prospect's social style(s). You'll connect more easily and comfortably, and you'll see your closing ratios climb

Portugal playmaker Deco immediately set his sights on Premier League and European glory after joining Chelsea tonight.

The Brazil-born player is the club's first signing since the appointment of Luiz Felipe Scolari as manager and he is believed to have cost around £8million. Deco's move will see him link up once again with Scolari, his national coach at Euro 2008, and another Portugal team-mate in Jose Bosingwa, who signed for the club earlier in the summer.

The two-time Champions League-winner had been linked with Inter Milan, where his former Porto boss Jose Mourinho is now manager, but the Italians appear to have been put off by the price. Chelsea, however, seem to have negotiated the fee down to sign Deco on what is thought to be a two-year deal.

New coach Scolari officially starts work at Chelsea tomorrow morning and will undoubtedly be happy with the club's transfer business so far.

Deco's arrival significantly boosts a midfield talent pool already boasting the likes of Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, Michael Essien, Mikel Jon Obi and Claude Makelele. Yet Scolari is likely to have a busy first week ahead of him with top priority likely to be persuading England international Lampard and defender Ricardo Carvalho to stay.

How far can Big Phil go with Chelsea Big egos, time will tell but definitely his character and personality is fun to watch definitely. Although i still miss The Special One, but hey, whatever goes around comes around. Big Phil, best of luck...

Value - Oriented Kids

In a consumer-driven society that broadcasts values that don’t reflect what you believe, how can fathers teach values to their kids? Here are ten ideas to help you:

1) Tell them your life stories and teach through your stories

Kids love to hear stories about your childhood. Weave in some moral dilemmas and you’ve got great opportunities to teach values to them. It certainly beats lecturing your kids!

2) Live your own life according to your values—walk the talk.

Kids learn by imitating, especially at a young age. They are very adept at seeing if what you say and what you do are matching up. Don’t give them confusing signals; follow your own values every moment.

3)Expose them to your religion or faith.

It seems especially important today to let them know that they’re not alone. Providing your kids with a community of faith will strengthen their values and provide parents some “leverage”

4) Pay attention to who else might be teaching values to your kids

Get to know your child’s teachers, coaches, relatives, etc. Anyone who spends time with your kids may be influencing them. Know their values and beliefs as well.

5) Ask your kids questions that will stimulate dialogue about values

Telling them what values they should have won’t always be effective, especially when your kids get older. Asking them “curious” questions will allow discussions that will eventually lead to values. “What did you think about that fight,” may be more effective than, “He shouldn’t have started that fight!”

6) Talk to them about values in a relaxed and easy way

Nothing will turn your kids off more than preaching values to them after they’ve screwed up!

7) Talk to them when everyone’s relaxed, and do it in a light, conversational manner.

They’ll be much more likely to be listening rather than tuning you out.

8) Read them fairy tales when they’re younger

Fairy tales capture the imagination of kids and can easily lead to a discussion of values. Kids will learn the most concerning values when they’re excited about the topic.

9) Involve your kids in art, activities, or helping others while limiting TV and video games

Kids learn values when they experience them. Allow them to experience helping others and involve them in activities that will expand their creativity.

10) Have frequent conversations about values in your household

This lets your kids know that it’s important and it’s not just something you talk about when they do something wrong.

11) Have high expectations for your kids’ value systems

Kids will tend to rise to the level of expectation you have for them. Their value system will often reflect yours if the expectations are high.
