Blame Nobody for Medical Expenses

Family members of 51-year-old Yek Yow Ngan, who died in a car accident after allegedly being pursued by a gang of armed men, have called for justice during her funeral. Yeong Hon had alleged that Assunta Hospital, where Yow Ngan was initially brought to, had demanded a RM10,000 deposit for treatment and wasted time treating his mother because of this issue. Assunta Hospital has denied these allegations and said Yow Ngan was given the necessary attention when she was brought in.

This morning, we had our meeting as usual and one of our agent brought up this case to discussed. Yeah, i totally feel sorry for the deceased family member for that unforseen incident. Problems such as Mat Rempit or driver with unacceptable attitude and "reaction" towards an incident is uncontrollable. If we look at different angle, Ms Yek might have said something and disturb the other party and provoke his anger.

I'm here not to judge who is right or wrong on that incident. But I thing for sure, you just can't simply blame Assuntha Hospital for not treating her mom. To me, Assuntha did nothing wrong, they just following the procedure and the right to demand upfront deposit before any operation been carried out. In today's world, in many circumstances, "no money no talk", some might argued; doctors have the responsibility and where is their moral or sympathetic and so on. Once again, "don't start the blaming game, blame ownself for everything that occurred".

The reason is because if you bought a medical insurance, this problem will not occured. The hospital will immediately arrange operation amd you can request the very best doctor. In my experience, most hospital only require a small sum of deposit for admission, unlike RM 10,000 if you do not have medical card.

Although many families already bought their medical card, some people or family still reluctant to do so because they cannot see the impact of not having one. Unless they have saving on their own. In terms of saving, you work hard every single day and what you do, save, save and save for future use. We have to accept that once day we will fall sick, again the question is "when", why you want to let your lifetime saving goes for doctors? Do we owe doctor by the time we born? The answer is NO. So folks, i still believe in "prevention is better than cure", you can argue, "insurance company always cheats" and "when u buy that time no problem and when claimed happen another story" and so many uncountable objections from customers. One thing for sure, you either transfer your "risk" to insurance company or you become the insurance company. So please don't blame anyone except ownself in whatever we do.

'prevention is better than cure'
ia definitely right. However, not many people know about the importance of it until they are become victim. I sugguest that campaigns to be held periodically by institution to promote it.

hi lalseang, thanks for ur comment. i agree with u that campaign is needed to create awareness and spread the importance of medical insurance. People do not realize on the impact of not having ins until they became the victim. thanks again, together we learn and share.
